Canberra lambasted for having a dead heart
A local ABC radio reporter questioned whether the lamb was dead after it was taken to Canberra hospital.
“It seems they are keeping mum because you don’t want to give any other news that is bad,” she said.
The government has issued the official response, saying the meat was not sick.
A doctor in Canberra says the problem stems from poor packaging.
The meat is meant to be consumed after it has ripened, and doctors say the ripening may have compromised its quality.
Labor says it is looking into the issue, but has rejected calls for more public consultation.
Labor health spokesman Andrew Nikolic said the health minister could have put people through more tests but chose to focus on keeping the public ignorant.

The meat company has now said that it is investigating the matter further.
